Pharmacist: the most accessible healthcare professional

My name is Dr. Ana, and I am a Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist who truly loves what I do. I am board certified in pharmacotherapy (BCPS) and critical care pharmacy (BCCCP). My passion lies in both teaching students and participating in bedside patient care. Pharmacists play a vital role in the healthcare team, and I created Healthy Doses Blog to help students and early-career professionals understand the impact and opportunities within this profession.

I earned my Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and completed a clinical pharmacy residency, which helped shape my clinical knowledge and passion for patient care. Over the years, I have gained nearly a decade of hands-on experience working in clinical pharmacy. I specifically have experience in critical care and emergency medicine settings where medication management and collaboration with healthcare teams are essential to improving patient outcomes.

Throughout my career, I have developed a strong interest in mentorship and education, especially for students exploring healthcare careers. My expertise includes graduate school preparation, pharmacy school applications and interviews, PGY residency applications and interviews, and navigating career paths in both healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry. I also help students prepare for pre-pharmacy requirements, including prerequisite coursework and the PCAT, as well as support pharmacy students with pharmacotherapy concepts, calculations, statistics, and clinical case discussions. Additionally, I enjoy helping new graduates prepare for the NAPLEX and the transition into professional practice.
